THE BACKGROUND AND THE VISION
Urban Twist Music was created in 2013 by Rochad Holiday. For years, he had been placing music in other libraries, and they all asked him for urban content. He then decided to create his own collection of music with an urban niche. There are unquestionably other genres in the assemblage, but many of them have an urban element, hence the name Urban Twist.
Rochad’s music career has spanned over 30 years. He started working in the promotions department at MCA Records back in the late1980’s. After a few years of learning the business, building relationships, and honing his songwriting and production skills, he pursued his dream of producing records and one of the first artists he worked with was Brandy on her debut album in 1994. He and his creative partners then formed the group Somethin’ For The People, and they released three albums on Warner Bros Records in the 1990’s. They also had a hit song titled “My Love Is The Shhh.'“
Over the years, Rochad and many of the composers in Urban Twist Music have composed songs and cues for a substantial amount of television shows. Many of them are pictured below. The concept of the company is to give innovative communities another viable outlet for their music. Mr. Holiday believes that ingenious people should treat their music like stocks and diversify their music portfolios. Some songs can be radio hits, some can be used as background music for television and others can be licensed to films. With more music placement opportunities, there are increased possible streams of income.
